Hi there- we’re stoked that you want to find out more about what we can do for you. Here are some of the common questions we’ve been asked but it’s always growing as we meet new people (which we love). Ultimately it’s best to meet us in person- in fact we almost insist that for weddings we meet before hand at yours or our favourite cafe – the coffees are on us! We just want to get to know you and know that we will be able to give you everything you want and deserve so please contact us- no strings attached.
Engagements and Couples
What should I wear?
It really depends on you – we want to capture your personalities so whatever is comfortable and natural for you works best.
What should I bring?
Apart from your sense of humour and fun, you might want some water and any props or objects that show who you are. We’ve had some good times with bubbles, picnic sets, giant helium balloons and ukuleles, and we’re always open to new ideas.
What time should we take our photos?
Lighting is best just before sunset to create beautiful romantic images – we can plan ahead using www.timeanddate.com to make sure we get the right time. Usually 2 hours before will provide plenty of time. If this isn’t possible we can work with shade and areas of softer light to make you look your best without hard and dark shadows.
Where should we go for our photos?
We love finding new places that mean so much to our clients. Parks and locations that you know well such as first dates, where you proposed or spent a lot of time together can be especially meaningful. Otherwise we can make suggestions if you are after something different to match your desired theme.
When will we get our photos?
Portraits and couple photos are normally edited and given to you within 2-4 weeks of the shoot. This allows us to ensure each of your images are given the attention they deserve.
What happens if it rains?
Unfortunately we can’t control the weather (yet) but we can postpone the shoot to a more agreeable day free of charge.
What is the best time for our location shoot?
Lighting is always best near the end of the day when the sun is setting. If this isn’t possible we can still take great photos.
How much time should we allocate for the location shoot?
We have worked with as little as 30 minutes but we are more comfortable with between 1-2 hours to let our creative juices flow. This time excludes travel time but includes time for you and the bridal party to catch your breath, have a drink and something to eat so you can really enjoy the photo shoot.
When will we get our photos?
Our normal turnaround time is 6-8 weeks so we can give each image the attention they deserve. We will have some of our favourites from the wedding up on our Facebook page in the days after so that your friends and family can relive the memories.
How many photos will we get?
For a full day coverage you will get a minimum of 600 edited high resolution images but we normally give our couples many more.
How will we get our photos?
You will receive the edited high resolution images on a beautiful USB drive. We do recommend that you backup the images as you may accidentally delete files if you use the USB for other purposes. We love printed images and want you to have at least one to physically have in your hands so we include a free 8×12″ print with every package. We have a full price list of our complete range of enlargements and albums to suit what you’re after.
What are some things we should consider when planning the run sheet for the wedding day?
We can work with any timing that you have for the day but from experience there are simple things that can make everything run smoothly and comfortably. We like to have an hour for preparation with the bride before the ceremony so we can capture all of the little details and moments. It’s also suggested that you have a list of any group photos that you would like so that we make sure we get photos of everyone you want. Having someone with a loud voice to get everyone together would be ideal as well. When we meet up we can go through more tips and make sure your day will go off without a hitch.
What happens if it rains?
Unfortunately we can’t control the weather (yet) but we recommend having a backup indoor or sheltered location for peace of mind. We can make suggestions and rest assured we will still capture the moments beautifully.
What should my bridesmaids bring for me?
For our wedding day and for past clients, we found it best to have the following just in case:
- Sewing kit
- Water (with straws)
- Flat shoes for down time. Also if your dress is long enough you can get away with flats the whole day until times you want to show off the shoes like the prep and first dance.
- Extra makeup for touch ups
- Bobby pins, safety pins
What breaks for the photographers need?
As we are human, we will need to have a break during the day to recharge ourselves and make sure we’re ready to capture the moments during the reception. We ask that we are served our meals either before or at the same time as the guests so that we are ready for the speeches and festivities. We don’t mind sitting away from the guests in another room or up the back – whatever works for you and your reception venue.
How and when should we pay?
Once you know and can see us as your wedding photographers, we will say a big thank you for letting us be a part of the celebration. A 25% booking fee is required to lock in the day to make sure the day is yours. Full payment is required before the wedding day and can be done via PayPal or bank deposit. Please note Paypal has a 3% transaction fee. The booking fee is non refundable but can be used for credit to other photography services.
